Location

Clifton is located approximately half way between Toowoomba and Warwick on the Darling Downs. The ridges of the Great Dividing Range, the fertile farming plainlands and the local tributaries that lead into the Condamine River are features of the area.

The town of Clifton was settled in 1875 and the shire includes many localities including Nobby, Back Plains, Emu Creek, Felton, Kings Creek, Leyburn, Pilton, and Ryeford. These localities form the basis of our Clifton Cluster for schools.

Clifton State High School is located on Clifton Highway on the eastern edge of the town. The school has large grounds with opportunities for sporting events on various ovals. The rural location on the edge of town allows the Agricultural Department to be a leading school in Agricultural ventures, particularly in cattle handling.
