On Monday 10th August, Clifton SHS commemorated the August offensive at Gallipoli Peninsula, with special recognition of the Battle of Lone Pine 6th-10th August. Representatives from the community attended the commemoration.
At this special parade, the school also ‘unveiled’ its permanent tribute to the members of the Light Horse of World War 1. Year 10 Art students produced a large work of the iconic photograph of two Light Horsemen on their horses. Jessica Scott explained the symbolism of the colours of the work which will be permanently mounted in the Multi-Purpose Shelter. The Principal , Joy Craig, spoke of the significance of the relationship between man and horse and reminded parade of the importance of their story of mateship, courage, guts and determination.
