Every year, students
from Clifton State High School are invited to attend the Ag Inspirations tour.
The tour is organised by Ag Force in conjunction with local industry and the
Department of Employment, Small Business and Training, and has been developed
to provide meaningful opportunities for school students and local
employers to connect. The program assists students in making informed decisions
when considering their career options in the agricultural industry. This year,
four students from our school community joined students from other schools in
our district on a tour of some of the facilities in and around Warwick.
Over three days,
beginning Monday 22nd July, Kiara Bressington, Olivia Walker,
Jasmine Keleher and Dawson Doepel, who are all participants in the CSHS
Certificate III in Rural Operations course, joined students from Warwick State
High School, Scots PGC College, Assumption College and Stanthorpe State High
School to visit a variety of facilities. These facilities included, amongst
others; the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries research station in
Warwick, Maydan Feedlot, Riverina Stock Feeds, John Dee Warwick abattoir and
Wickham Farms.
During the three day program, students took the opportunity to ask
questions about the various roles within each operation and were able to
identify future career possibilities. All the students came away with a
greater understanding of the broad range of opportunities available within the
various industries. This experience should be very valuable in helping them to
make informed decisions in relation to their own individual career journeys.
