This year, two nominations were submitted in the Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools in the categories of Junior Secondary and Innovation. Clifton High was successful in winning both categories.
The Junior Secondary Award for Excellence in the Junior Secondary Years recognises programs which create positive outcomes and improved performance for Year 7 to 9 students, engaging them, providing support and a sense of belonging, and addressing the seven guiding principles of: distinct identity; quality teaching; student wellbeing; parent and community involvement; leadership; local decision-making and improved student achievement.
The Award for Excellence in Innovation recognises programs that create positive outcomes and improved performance for students through; initiatives that can serve as best practice examples state-wide, nationally or internationally; the design of highly innovative approaches; productive partnerships; instructional leadership and improved student achievement.
Both winning submissions will now proceed to the State Finals in Brisbane in October.
