The Guidance Officer leads the coordination of a student support and wellbeing monitoring system that is responsive to the needs of the school community.
The Guidance Officer may work directly with students in addition to working with a student's teachers, other school support staff, family, other specialists or external support providers.
Support offered by the Guidance Officer includes providing advice and counselling on issues such as:
- educational
- behavioural
- vocational and career development
- personal
- social
- family
- mental health and wellbeing.
The Guidance Officer provides leadership, support and case management in responding to some of the most complex and challenging of circumstances including student protection matters, critical incidents, and mental health issues.
