Guidance Officer

​Some of the key Guidance roles within the school include:

  • Academic related issues including study skills, subject selection and choices and academic performance
  • Support for social and emotional needs as they pertain to school success
  • Assistance to students and their families around mental health issues
  • Personal counselling
  • Career counselling
  • Assistance with tertiary education applications, scholarships and accommodation
  • Student protection issues
  • Liaison with and assistance with referral to a wide range of support personnel and services
  • Assistance with behaviour management issues
  • Conducting in-service training and workshops with school staff across a range of topics
  • Assistance with critical incidents
  • Psychometric and other assessments and reporting

Whilst Guidance support is predominately with individuals, at times the Guidance Officer may work with small groups, classes or larger groups in relation to particular issues.
